What it is and what it isn't

Castellfollit de la Roca is a guide for anyone planning a visit to the village and the Garrotxa: what to see, how to get there, where to park, how long to spend, where to stay and what to do nearby. We are not the town council, Turisme Garrotxa, the Natural Park or a travel agency. We don't sell tours or handle bookings: we link to the websites of the people who offer them.

Who makes it

It is published by Sumeria Global, S.L.U., a company based in Olot, about 7.5 km from Castellfollit. Full details are in the legal notice.

We won't tell you stories about the locals or experiences we can't back up. What you'll find here is information checked against sources you can look up yourself.

How we put each page together

  • Sources first. We mainly use official sources: the town council's website, Turisme Garrotxa, the Garrotxa Volcanic Zone Natural Park, the Generalitat (the Catalan government), Idescat and the official websites of places to stay and businesses. Every page lists its sources with the date we checked them.
  • When sources disagree, we say so. That happens with the height of the cliff and the age of the lava flows, and we explain the difference rather than picking a figure at random.
  • Opening hours and visitor fees only from official sources, with a date. We quote the old church's opening hours and the one euro it costs to climb its bell tower, for example, exactly as the town council publishes them, and say when we checked. We don't, however, publish prices, stars or ratings for tours or places to stay, because they change every day.
  • Coordinates and maps. Locations come from OpenStreetMap, with a link to the specific map feature.
  • Photographs. The images come from Wikimedia Commons, under licences that allow reuse, and the credits page lists each one's author and licence. They are not our own photos.

How it is funded

When a link to a tour or a place to stay is an affiliate link, we say so next to it: if you book through that link, the platform may pay us a commission. Nobody pays to appear in the guide, and no provider reviews or approves what we write. We explain it in detail in how this guide is funded.

Mistakes and suggestions

If something has changed, such as opening hours, a closed path or a place to stay that no longer exists, email us at [email protected]. We review and correct our pages, and update each page's date when we do.
